What it is: LL-37 is a 37-amino-acid antimicrobial peptide (AMP) representing the active functional cleavage fragment of human cathelicidin (hCAP-18).

How it works: LL-37 carries a strong net positive charge, allowing it to bind to negatively charged bacterial membranes and physically punch holes through them, causing rapid bacterial lysis. It destroys both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, dissolves protective bacterial biofilms, clears fungal pathogens, and recruits immune cells to wound sites.
