What it is: GHRP-6 (Growth Hormone Releasing Hexapeptide-6) is a first-generation synthetic hexapeptide growth hormone secretagogue that powerfully stimulates both growth hormone release and appetite.

How it works: It acts on the ghrelin receptor in the pituitary gland and hypothalamus. In addition to triggering large growth hormone pulses, it strongly activates appetite-stimulating NPY neurons in the brain, inducing intense, rapid hunger cravings within 20–30 minutes of injection.

Why researchers study it: Studied for overcoming severe muscle wasting (cachexia), accelerating joint and tendon repair, increasing caloric intake in low-appetite models, and neuroprotection.
